چکیده

Abstract An atmospheric-pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in argon is investigated using a time-dependent and spatially two-dimensional fluid-Poisson model axisymmetric geometry. The focus on the streamer–surface interaction cathode-layer formation during first event single-filament DBD driven by sinusoidal voltage. A characteristic structure consisting of volume streamer propagating just above simultaneous development an additional surface near cathode observed. analysis electric field, electron production loss rates, charge density distribution shows that radial deflection free electrons remaining from Townsend pre-phase guided component field. occurring between deflected streamer, which acts as virtual anode, governed ion-induced secondary emission charges accumulated dielectric.

Prediction of nested complementary pattern in argon dielectric-barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure

A two-dimensional self-consistent fluid model was employed to investigate the spatiotemporal nonlinear behavior in an argon glow-like/Townsend-like dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD) at atmospheric pressure. The discharge is characterized by a major current pulse with a residual one ahead per half cycle of the external voltage. The two current pulses are operated in glow mode, but with Townsend...

Study on Discharge Dynamics in an Atmospheric Pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge

In this work, the discharge dynamics in an atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is studied in a DBD reactor having parallel plate electrodes geometry. The DBD reactor is powered by a 50 Hz ac high voltage power source through a ballast resistor. The images of filaments occurring in the discharge gap are captured using a high speed intensified charge coupled device camera. The...

Theoretical study of the dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure

In this paper, the progress in the theoretical study of the dielectric barrier discharge is reported. The model of the atmospheric-pressure discharge is discussed. Such effects as the oscillations of the Townsend mode of the discharge, the instability of the Townsend mode with subsequent transition to the filamentary discharge, and the stabilization of the barrier discharge by the photoemission...

Experimental Study of an Atmospheric Pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge and PET Surface Modification

A homogeneous dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in argon was produced by applying high voltage A.C. source of potential difference (0-20) kV operating at a frequency of 10-30 kHz across two parallel plate electrodes with glass as dielectric barrier. The discharge was characterized by optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and electrical measurement. Four argon emission lines from the discharge we...

Atmospheric pressure plasma of dielectric barrier discharges*

The dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) has a number of industrial applications and has been a subject of research for many years. Many studies have been carried out to understand the underlying DBD physics. Despite the fact that much progress has been made, some important issues are still far from being clear. In this work, we summarize the basics of DBD physics and introduce innovative concept...
